The American Trucking Associations (ATA), the nation’s leading trade and lobby association representing the trucking industry, is currently seeking an efficient, organized Customs, Immigration & Cross-Border Operations Manager.
This position formulates and executes policy on behalf of ATA members participating in cross-border and international business. Participates in Capitol Hill meetings and has direct contact with cross-border motor carriers in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. This position has direct contact with cross-border motor carriers in the U.S., Canada and Mexico; the state trucking associations; the state and /or provincial and national trucking associations in Canada and Mexico. The incumbent attends CESAC and COAC meetings and works with those committees as needed on behalf of trucking. Also works with CBP on C-TPAT issues for ATA members as needed.
This position will report to the Chief Economist & SVP, International Trade Policy & Cross-Border Operations and has no direct reports or direct budgetary responsibilities.
BS/BA required in a relevant discipline (e.g., transportation, logistics, public administration, communications, political science, organizational management, etc.) Must have at least 2 years of experience in either transportation operations, public policy development, issue management in the trade association environment. Technical understanding/experience in working with CBP strongly preferred. Must have excellent written and oral communications skills, and have the ability to prepare comments and reports to government agencies throughout North America. Must have ability to present public speeches at regional, national and international forums on behalf of the U.S. trucking industry. Spanish fluency is a plus.
